Yiddish from Hebrew (mayveen), meaning one who understands, connoisseur, expert.

What are Mavens?

You live in an area, you know it quite well and you want to help others find the cool places to go that you know about. Excellent. We want you to become a Maven of that area.

Whether it's a town, a county/province, or an entire region, if you've got the passion, we want your help.

How do I become a Maven?

Simply put, start editing. The best thing to do is just to dive straight in and start editing places. If you know something about that place that isn't in the description, or you know it's actually down the road slightly, etc. change it.

If you want to become a real recognised Maven of an area, add your name to the list below and subscribe to the Atom feed for the Recent Changes of your area so you can keep up to date with any changes to places within your area.

Don't know where to start, how about with our todo list: [WWW]http://to.uri.st/places.html?q=%7B%7Btodo%7D%7D

Want to help spread the word? Take something away with you? Check out our tools page.

My area isn't covered yet, how do I help?

If you're favourite location isn't yet covered by to.uri.st, there's a couple of things you can do.

If you are a Web programmer, then get involved in writing parsing scripts for our Web spider. Check out the developers page and then look for gaps in our coverage.

If you know of a Web site that has good information about places we need more coverage, let us know. Go to the wanted page and add the site URL.

If you just really want us to cover a location but don't know where to get the data from, drop a note on the wanted and we'll do our best.
